Pastor Davis trusted the Lord, and, through prayer and
surrender, the Lord began to
trust Pastor Davis, and began His revelation to him.
Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, before I formed
thee in the belly I
knew thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations
(Jeremiah 1: 1-5).
This promise from God, and Pastor Davis’ sanctification, grew
his devotion to God; the
holy obedience of love was made perfect in him. Pastor Shawn’s
vision of the future
began to crystallize, and his resolve was hardening.
Following the orders of the United States Marine Corps, and the
calling of God, led
Pastor and First Lady Davis to a house on Carpenter Court, and a
home at a church
called The Carpenter’s House in Monterey, California. Here,
Pastor Davis was led to
experience the joy of service - first assisting the ushers and
greeters, and later as part
of the staff. Through counsel with the Pastor there, and
because of his experience with
Saddleback’s 40 Days of Purpose, Pastor Davis became a Small
Group Coordinator,
leading a devout group of believers through the 40 Days of
Purpose study. Pastor
Davis’ service continued as Youth Leader, but he had begun to
feel a higher calling,
and was developing the tools he would need to answer it.
One more move – this time to Northern Virginia – and the Lord
had Pastor Davis just
where he wanted him. Pastor Davis was finally in position to
hear and follow his true
calling; he was called to start a new ministry.
Pastor Davis joined the Salem Fields Church of the Nazarene.
Pastor Davis served as a
non-paid staff member and went on to become a licensed local
minister on June 12th,
2003. He attended a three-day ministerial assessment from
January 1-4, 2004 where he
preached a sermon as part his successful evaluation. He
preached his first sermon from
the pulpit at The Bridge Worship Center, Church of the Nazarene,
in Fredericksburg,
Virginia on April 23rd, 2004. He then enrolled in the Northwest
Nazarene University
where he completed 16 Theology courses.
Pastor Davis was licensed as a minister by Superintendent Phil
Fuller. In January 2005,
after being introduced to Reverend Charles Tillman, the African
American Ministries
Coordinator, Pastor Davis began conducting services in his
home. In October of 2005,
Superintendent Dr. Fuller installed then Elder Davis, and his
wife, Tasha, as Pastor and
First Lady of True Faith Community Church. The first service was
held, on October 2nd,
2005.
Pastor Davis holds a Bachelor of Electrical Technology degree
from Norfolk State
University. He studied Electronics Systems Engineering (EE) at
the Naval Postgraduate
School (NPS) in Monterey, California. He has been married to
First Lady Tasha
Michelle Davis for fifteen years; they live with their two
children, sons Michael and
Blake in Spotsylvania, Virginia. |
